![]() ![]() I don't make metal, but it's still music thst gets heavy and aggressive. Plus, some of the 7/8 and 5/4 patterns will bend your brain if you try to jam with them. I believe it's the Karnivool drummer playing, but he is very techy with his hands, and that means the isolated grooves for an individual drum have a fantastic velocity pattern that I've played with and used on electronic drums as well. Really though, the MIDI pack for the progressive foundry has time and time again been a source of inspiration. Also a fan of the China selection, and the splash. That snappy, ringing snare sound, imho, suits a wider range of heavy (but not necessarily metal) music. Its hard to explain, but listen to the snare in the song "My Own Summer" by the Deftones. Specifically, the routing I use gives me a higher pitched snare that I think sounds more organic on things like ghost notes. I haven't used the Metal packs, so I won't be able to compare them directly, but I'm a big fan of it. It's the one I picked back in April where you got a free expansion with an SD 2.0 purchase. ![]()
